The next time Labour tells you there's no money, show them this. They're spending £10 million pounds redeveloping Centenary Square. We reported in December that it was a missed opportunity and that the money could be better spent.
Don't get me wrong, I love Birmingham city centre. The redevelopment work over the last 30 years has transformed it into a wonderful place. But Centenary Square has already been redeveloped. It is already a great public square. It doesn't need a £10 million reflective pool. So the next time Labour tell you there is no money for building a homeless shelter or a centre for helping people who have been abused, remember it is because they spent it on a decorative pond.
