Halt the closure of Police Stations in Birmingham

The Labour Police and Crime Commissioner is threatening to close 11 Police Stations and buildings across Birmingham to save £5 million.

This will impact our Neighbourhood Policing Teams; many are based out of these Police Stations and buildings and now face wasteful journeys to get to their beats. The Liberal Democrats are committed to protecting and increasing the role of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, we have previously called on the government to increase funding for the teams.

The Liberal Democrats are calling for a halt to these closures, until all the Neighbourhood Policing Teams are found suitable bases in the wards they serve.

The Police Stations and Buildings at risk in Birmingham are as follows:

Acocks Green

Balsall Heath

Digbeth

Edgbaston

Handsworth

Harborne

Kingstanding

Nechells

Princip Street

Shard End

Sutton Coldfield
